“Picking Garbage”

Unfortunately, I see garbage almost every day in front of my driveway which is next to the main road. I guess most of the stuff is thrown away from car windows. I rarely eat fast food. Probably, I eat it a few times a year. I don’t drink coffee or eat popsicles. I definitely do not throw my garage outside. However, I pick up that garbage constantly. Hmm… If I ignore that garbage, people will throw more garbage.

I don’t say I am super clean or neat but I don’t mind to follow the local recycling system. In Japan, people have a more controlled garbage schedule. In my area, we have a relaxed garbage style, easy to follow twice a month garbage collection days. The garbage collection organization and workers are doing very well. They always collect our garbage neatly. I appreciate it.

Back to the road garbage topic, I pick garbage constantly because I can’t leave it in front of our property. We have to clean up because there are many mice, crows, or small animals. We always have one extra plastic bag added onto our house garbage. I noticed that most of the garbage comes from popular big-chain fast-food restaurants which often sell reasonable meal sets. I never see the local friendly and delicious coffee shops or restaurants’ garbage ever.

“ゴミ拾い”

困ったことに、メイン道路に面している私道の横にほぼ毎日ごみが捨てられています。多分ほとんどが車の窓から捨てられたものだと思います。わたしはファストフードはめったに食べません。食べるとしても年に数回です。コーヒーも棒アイスも食べません。ゴミを外に捨てることはしません。でもほとんど毎日ゴミ拾いをしています。うーん。もし無視すれば、元あるゴミの横にどんどんゴミを捨てられるのです…。

わたしはきちんとしていてものすごく綺麗好きなわけではないですが、地域のゴミ収集のシステムに従うのは全然苦ではありません。日本はもっと厳しめのゴミ収集スケジュールがありますね。わたしの住む地域のゴミ収集はけっこうリラックスしたシステムです。月に二度のゴミ収集日に合わせて準備するのは簡単です。ゴミ収集の組織も社員もとても真面目にいつも綺麗に収集してくれて、助かります。

自宅前のゴミの話に戻りますが、やはり拾わずに無視しておいておくわけにはいきません。ネズミ、カラスや色々な小動物もいるので、放置はできないのも理由のひとつです。自分の家の家庭ゴミに加えて、拾ったゴミの袋がもう一袋できるくらいの量です。ゴミを拾っていて気がついたのですが、だいたいのゴミは安いミールセットがあるような安いフランチャイズのお店のゴミばかりです。地元のおいしいコーヒー屋さんやレストランなどのゴミは落ちているのを見たことがありません。

We have a great view near our house. This main road connects to a beautiful provincial park on the mountain. If this road was free of garbage, that would be great.

近所の風景はとてもいい眺めです。このメインの道路は山の中の州立の公園に続いています。この道はゴミだらけではないと素敵なのです。

Tomorrow is our next garbage collection day. This plastic bag is almost full already. I don’t want to use one more plastic bag. I hope nobody throws any more garbage.

次回のごみ収集日は明日です。もう一枚ゴミ袋は使いたくないです。もうすぐ満杯になりそうです。これ以上ゴミは捨てないで〜！

Strangely, I liked to take this photo because it looks cool in black and white. This Christmas cup is everywhere on the road. I have strange feelings when I pick up this Christmas garbage. I am usually interested in taking gentle nature or animal photos but sometimes I am interested in taking pictures of our reality. For example, downtown life, buildings, garbage, human lives, or more. However, I don’t take these kind of photos constantly because I am affected by the negative energy too much. If I have enough boundaries, I can take these kinds of photos.

おかしな話しですが、この白黒写真はけっこう格好良く見えます。このクリスマスパッケージのカップがそこら中に落ちています。これを拾う時不思議な気持ちになります。普段は優しい自然界や動物の写真を撮るのが好きですが、時々現実的な写真を撮るのも好きです。例えば街の暮らし、ビル街、ごみ、人間の暮らしなどなど。でもそういう写真を常に撮ることは出来ません。けっこうエネルギーが吸い取られる感じがしますし、強い気持ちを持っている時じゃないとそういう写真は撮れません。
