Egypt’s 🇪🇬 Medical Doctors (MD) Syndicate just released its latest report showing the number of Egyptian medical doctors (MD) working abroad:
50,000 MDs in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
25,000 MDs in the States 🇺🇸
15,000 MDs in Kuwait 🇰🇼
12.000 MDs in Canada 🇨🇦
10,000 MDs in the UAE 🇦🇪
8,000 MDs in the UK 🇬🇧
4,000 MDs in Germany 🇩🇪
2,500 MDs in France 🇫🇷
A total of 126,500 African doctors (from Egypt only) are working abroad.
It costs around $1,000,000 to raise a doctor from Grade 1 to graduation.
Egypt 🇪🇬 alone has lost a total of $126.5 billion of investment in human resources to foriegn countries.
Calculate how much the whole continent has lost if we add the departing MDs from other African countries like Nigeria 🇳🇬, Tanzania 🇹🇿, South Africa 🇿🇦, Zambia 🇿🇲, Uganda 🇺🇬 etc
If we can’t provide a decent pay and work environment for those doctors, we shouldn’t have let them pursue a medical career to end up losing them to foriegn countries. We are practically financing foreign economies.
