πππ£π«ππ is a village on stilts in Benin, accessible by boat from Abomey. Ganvie means βππ¦ ππΆπ³π·πͺπ·π¦π₯', in the local language. 'The people who fight in peace'. π§π―
The Tofinu community escaped enslavement from Dohomey kingdom and fled to Lake Nokoue. Where they constructed homes with sticks and natural sources.π
Their main means of living is fishingπ£, but you will find businesses β salon, taylors, retail, hospital, hotel, restaurant, school, religious quarters, and a floating market.
Children learn to swim from 3yrs and due to diet live a long life. Its believed the population is 40k (said tour guide) living on Lake Nokoue.
