Gold for trinkets - Oro por baratijas
Between the years of 1975 and 2010 approximately, a very famous musical comedy group in my country and in many others called Les Luthiers, which even today continues to offer great shows despite being decimated by the death or retirement of several of its founders, had enormous successes with their presentations that played with comedy, monologues, and songs, all the pieces created by themselves and performed with a good number of instruments also designed by their brilliant minds and built with their hands, hence the name of the group.
I remember that, in one of those songs, one that in my opinion should not be given too much credit since my musical instruction is practically non-existent, it was the best composition achieved by the group among a large number of other works of great quality. The name of the theme was very long since it was about transmitting comedy, but the important thing was the content, it represented a trip through all of Latin America at the time of the Spanish conquest with the particularity that the song changed to the most representative rhythm of each country as the supposed conqueror was making his journey.
In one part, stanzas were sung explaining how the conqueror wanted to exchange trinkets for gold, a chorus made up of part of the group reviled him, saying that it was based to want to deceive a town of indigenous people who did not know the value of the precious metal when the song went on to recount the march of the conqueror and the change of country, it turned out that the one who had received trinkets in exchange for the gold he was transporting was the conqueror.
Of course, I completely went away from what I wanted to comment, which was simply that a man who has an enormous fortune, enough to be the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, has just mentioned that he prefers BTC over gold since he considers it a better store of value, he endorses it by saying that he does not own any gold, but many BTC.
Many of us hope and fervently hope that time proves him right and that he does not end up as the conqueror of the song by Les Luthiers.
Entre los años 1975 y 2010 aproximadamente un grupo cómico musical muy famoso en mi país y en muchos otros llamado Les Luthiers que aun hoy continua brindando grandes espectáculos pese a ser diezmado por el fallecimiento o retiro de varios de sus fundadores, tenía enormes éxitos con sus presentaciones que jugaban con la comicidad, los monólogos y las canciones, todas las piezas creadas por ellos mismos e interpretadas con una buena cantidad de instrumentos también diseñados por sus brillantes mentes y construidos con sus manos, de allí proviene el nombre del grupo.
Recuerdo que, en una de esas canciones, una que según mi criterio al cual no deben dar demasiado crédito ya que mi instrucción musical es prácticamente inexiste, fue la mejor composición lograda por el grupo entre una gran cantidad de otras obras de gran calidad. El nombre del tema era larguísimo ya que se trataba de trasmitir comicidad, pero lo importante era el contenido, representaba un viaje a través de toda Latinoamérica en época de la conquista española con la particularidad de que la canción cambiaba al ritmo más representativo de cada país a medida que el supuesto conquistador iba realizando su recorrido.
En una parte se entonaban estrofas donde se explicaba como el conquistador quería cambiar a los Incas baratijas por oro, un coro formado por parte del grupo lo denostaba diciendo que era una bajeza querer engañar a un pueblo de indígenas que no conocían el valor del metal precioso, cuando la canción pasaba a relatar la marcha del conquistador y el cambio de país, resultaba que el que había recibido baratijas a cambio del oro que transportaba era el conquistador.
Por supuesto me fui totalmente de lo que quería comentar que era simplemente que un señor que posee una enorme fortuna, tanta como para ser el dueño de los Dallas Mavericks, acaba de mencionar que prefiere el BTC por encima del oro ya que lo considera una mejor reserva de valor, lo refrenda diciendo que no posee nada de oro, pero si muchos BTC.
Muchos esperamos y deseamos fervientemente que el tiempo le dé la razón y que no termine como el conquistador de la canción de Les Luthiers.
