Keep it simple, stupid.

Don't take the title personal; this post is more for me.

My Investment portfolio.png

Over the past couple of years, coins and tokens have come and gone from my portfolio. I've tried trading, staking in liquidity pools, launchpads, NFTs and GameFi.

And all those strategies are great, but I just don't feel like investing my time into them this year.

This year I'm taking it back to basics and building with a bare bones portfolio of rock-solid coins, both of which I'm earning instead of trading for fiat.

HIVE

You could be reading this post on Leo Finance, PeakD, Ecency, the recent Veews or another front end that is built on the HIVE Blockchain. Some of them have their own tokens and/or points associated with them, but they all interact with our beloved blockchain on the base layer. The main token of which is HIVE which was recently put on sale at sub $0.40 prices. If you were saving some stable coins for a rainy day, like me, the time to trade them for a coin that is building lots of infrastructure for the future... is now!

There's been HUGE improvements to the HIVE blockchain this year, and that means more d'apps will be able to build on top of it. In fact, plenty of useful d'apps are already being on top of the HIVE Blockchain already, and that's the reason I think it's only a matter of time until we get the next big d'app. It could be the micro-blogging platform the amazing Leo Finance team as working on (codename Project Blank), it could be another killer game like Splinterlands or it could be something else. I don't know... nobody knows.

What I do know is that I find this blockchain useful.

Even if the price stays at $0.35 forever, I can still use the HIVE blockchain to upload podcasts, interviews, music, written content, create NFTs and self-custody my cryptocurrency, and with human-readable account names, I think more people will slowly find the use cases of HIVE valuable and they will come to use it.

This is why HIVE makes up most of my crypto portfolio and will continue to do so in 2023.

Bitcoin

Bitcoin is a coin I'm holding for the very long term. Some of my clients pay me in Bitcoin and I do my best to keep those payments in Bitcoin, As I think it's incredibly undervalued still. Whenever I have some extra fiat, I can convert it into Bitcoin $10 at a time if I wish. Why am I doing this? because it's a global network capable of transferring value peer-to-peer at near free cost. It has a track record of 14 years and counting and is leading the charge when it comes to cryptocurrency adoption.

If you've been keeping up with the news, you'll see Central America has become a hub for Bitcoin adoptions from merchants thanks to Bitcoin startups like IBEX Mercado.

Bitcoin education is being taught at school thanks to projects like Mi Primer Bitcoin,

Mi-Primer-Bitcoin-Logo2.jpeg

And Bitcoin is now able to be cashed out at local bodegas thanks to Osmo.

It might be hard to grasp just how significant all of this is, but we're seeing Bitcoin being used at a scale we've never seen before, not just by individuals, but by businesses, enterprises and governments. So yeah, I'm bullish on Bitcoin and that's why it makes up the rest of my portfolio.

Boring strategy? maybe.

But I just don't want to spend much time on anything else this year.

I'm with you on Bitcoin for sure, nicely done on taking payments from clients in Bitcoin! I guess you use lightning for that?

Be careful about doxing your holdings though mate!

Hey Nicky! Lightning for most small transactions that happen locally, a lot of overseas clients just pay with Bitcoin On chain.

Thanks for the recommendation.

I grayed out the amounts on my portfolio so that people don't know I'm a millionaire.

these are the actual, non-edited amounts in my actual portfolio.

Love it that they pay on chain too, bet it can get interesting when confirmation times are a little on the slow side!

Lol, ok Alex "8 Figures" Rourke over here 😃

Thank you so much for your support of my @v4vapp proposals in the past, my previous one expired this week.

I'd be really happy if you would continue supporting my work by voting on this proposal for the next 6 months:

Additionally you can also help this work with a vote for Brianoflondon's Witness using KeyChain or HiveSigner

If you have used v4v.app I'd really like to hear your feedback, and if you haven't I'd be happy to hear why or whether there are other things you want it to do.

Hey Brian, yeah, for sure, I'll support the proposal and your witness, I've actually been looking for new witnesses outside the top 20 to give my vote to :)

I've been using the v4v.app for a while and I'm pretty happy with how it works. I've been able to pay for food with merchants that accept Bitcoin and I'll be able to receive Bitcoin to HIVE someday too. The thing is I don't want to spend my HIVE right now. But the app works great.

Thank you I also don't want to spend crypto so I find myself buying back more. But it is so useful to pay for some services without a credit card.

I bet you can do that at $0.16 as well ;). Not saying it's going to happen, but according to @chorock, this seems to be the ultimate bottom.

It could!

I guess he's right, I don't have any more fiat that I can responsibly put into HIVE. At $0.16 it would be pretty hard to resist. Maybe I can do a garage sale. We'll have to wait and see. But yeah, the point is we can actually use the HIVE blockchain to do things in life. That's why I feel confident in holding HIVE in my very boring portfolio.
