Should Pomp of “The Pomp Podcast” join Hive after ditching advertisers/sponsors?

Anthony Pompliano is a famous you-tuber and a podcast host who invites guests to talk about business, finance and Bitcoin. He has more than a million Twitter followers and boasts great influence with YT videos and Podcasts. He is also an entrepreneur investing in many tech and crypto firms.

Pomp recently decided to ditch advertisers and sponsors. It is a bold move but an expected reaction to his association with Blockfi. His reputation came crashing down after the crypto crowd accused him of scamming users by promoting Blockfi. There were many videos accusing Pomp for the deed.

The crypto lending platform BlockFi filed for bankruptcy citing FTX collapse as the reason. BlockFi was one of the sponsors of the Pomp podcast where he actively recommended using the lending platform to his listeners. After the collapse, his listeners did not keep quiet and pointed fingers to the influencer.

As he has been vocal of his associations and sponsors, it was expected that he should decide something crazy like this. Take a look at this video he shared on Twitter. @leofinance platform may not embed the video properly but you will be able to see this on @peakd

I am removing all advertisers from the audio podcast and YouTube videos.

Sometimes you just follow your heart and figure it out as you go.

My thoughts

I think this is the shift we all have been referring to while being on Hive. The idea of creating value with the content one produces without the third party advertisers and sponsors is part of the value for value entrepreneurship. The idea behind this model is to let the consumers decide the value of the content, removing the third party to decide how value is calculated and assessed.

Pomp took a blow to his income source by ditching advertisers. I am not sure how he will make up for the loss he took. But, it is wise to value his reputation ahead of advertisers. He can gain his sponsors later but will not be able to maintain his reputation without this corrected course.

One of the twitter users urged him to look into platforms with Value for Value (V4V) principles and he noted that he is looking into many options including V4V. Do we have the clout and the technical capacity to lure him into the platform? I know that it is not easy to bring the mainstream crypto personality on Hive. But, Pomp can create an account on @3speak and upload his podcast for him to learn how V4V works on Hive.

That's a great idea. These are the kind of people who should be smart enough to see the value in a place like Hive. It's still early, but you would think that would even be more reason to get involved now.

The first thing you have to do is Own Your Own Account. Hive is one of the few places you can actually do that.

Sooner or later these people are going to figure that out. In my mind, it would seem smarter to do it sooner, don't you think?

I know. Influencers and users should be getting into these platforms including hive much sooner. May be they are not smart enough? :P
I thought that Hive community will pick up my post and tweet to create a bit of conversation. There was no traction to article. May be I am not big enough a writer.

It takes some time. That's why making these comments is so important. You need to just keep putting you name out there through "adding" to other peoples' posts. Eventually people will start to recognize you and maybe follow you. Or when they see your name on an article, they'll read it and give you a vote.

It's a process. If you look at it from the perspective of "what can I add to the platform" instead of "what can I get from the platform" you'll find that you're much happier and the votes will eventually come.

Just keep at it. Like I said, 10 comments a day and a couple #threads. You'll get there.

Yes, I understand that. I am lucky enough to get recognition and upvotes in the past by the community members. I was referring to the traction in terms of number of tweets to market Hive while this was happening. People reading the Pomp tweet would have noticed the project. I am happy :) 1o comments and more #threads are the way forward for me this new year.
