Athletes, community organizers, and television personalities have been elected president; so let's go BITCOIN-HIVE 2056!

Tech Today

With Bitcoin's 14th birthday behind us, we can look around and see how much of our lives we're giving up to technology:

  • small-scale drones in raging wars;
  • pseudoautonomous vehicles;
  • chatbots for customer service and support;
  • robotic bartenders;
  • AI for art.

Technology is supposed to help us be more active in our lives even as we take advantage of its labor-saving nature. Instead, we've become passive in the face of technological progress--

--Similar to how we live as citizens and residents of the places we call home.

Government Today

Professional politicians themselves have become passive after giving away their powers and responsibilities to technocrats to bring about rule by experts. Although in progress for decades, the last few years have shown us where rule by experts leads us.

Most of our elected officials are professional politicians. It's the same for our elected heads of government. It wasn't supposed to be this way, but here we are.

Occasionally we get citizen politicans: regular people who entered politics because the professional politicians just weren't getting the job done even while getting paid obscene salaries from our treasuries.

Among the citizen politicans we've had were armed forces veterans of all ranks; truckers; doctors; top-flight athletes; actors; and television personalities. It's been a mixed bag, with mixed results.

With these trends in technology and governemnt, what can we expect to see in the world thirty-three years from now?

BITCOIN-HIVE 2056

If we're going to let technology rule over us, it may as well be cryptocurrency.

Not central bank digital currencies-- CBDCs are an extension of the trends we see right now. If anything, CBDCs represent a world where we're nothing more than sources of revenue for an organization which prints currency but doesn't produce its own money.

So why should we choose BITCOIN-HIVE in 2056 to be our elected leaders?

DECENTRALIZED

No one has the monopoly on Bitcoin. There are so many nodes and miners that it would take a long time to gain control of at least 51% of them. More importantly, if some nodes get knocked out, other nodes pick up the slack. Just as the Internet was created during the Cold War to survive a first strike or an EMP attack, the decentralization of Bitcoin is key to its survival and its value.

Hive is similar to Bitcoin in this regard. The Hivers here who had been with the Steem blockchain know only too well what a centralized cryptocurrency network is like, and they weren't having any of it. Hive-D4-- 2020-March-20-- had become the stuff of legend.

PERMISSIONLESS

BYOB is an acronym usually known as "bring your own bottle" or "bring your own beer." Since Bitcoin came on the scene in 2009, BYOB took on another meaning: Be Your Own Bank.

Related with BYOB is the maxim Not your keys, not your crypto.

As long as BTC and HIVE are in individual wallets, they will remain safer than if we casually left them in wallets controlled by centralized exchanges such as Kraken and the bankrupt FTX. Who controlled the keys at Kraken and FTX? Not the individuals who relied on them.

When you are your own bank, you don't need anyone's permission to do anything with the cryptocurrency in your possession.

When you are your own bank, you also assume total responsibility for that cryptocurrency:

  • Add liquidity to a pool via DeFi, you make cryptocurrency work for you.
  • Make a typo in the address to which you send cryptocurrency, that sent cryptocurrency may as well be sent to a black hole or the bit bucket.
  • Lose your keys.... Do you really want me to tell you what happens?

When you are your own bank, you control your money. When you control your money, you have freedom to use it as you wish. If some people don't approve of how you use your money, they can become their own banks and use their money as they see fit.

If we were all our own banks, we would be able to treat each other as peers and as owners of cryptocurrency. None of us would be controlled by anyone else, and that reinforces the pre-political rights each of us has. We can't even do that with USD, and gold isn't as accessible as it should be to the people.

NOW

Anyone with a bank account and access to the Internet can acquire Bitcoin by buying it at an exchange or by mining it. Anyone without a bank account but with Internet access can either mine Bitcoin directly or take part in a mining pool.

With Hive, it's even easier. No bank account is required when signing up for a Hive account. The HIVE we earn is ours to keep and to do with as we wish. Many ways exist to earn HIVE thanks to social media dApps, blockchain games, and more.

Hive even has decentralized exchanges which can receive outside BTC we can control as we HODL. The Hive DEXs also offer a vast array of Layer 2 tokens we earn alongside HIVE, Hive Power, and the HBD stablecoin at Layer 1 thanks to our activities on the blockchain.

Why BITCOIN Needs HIVE As Its Running Mate

Running mates are supposed to compensate for each other's weaknesses or flaws:

  • The youthful John F. Kennedy needed the experience and contacts of Lyndon B. Johnson;
  • An unconventional Ronald Reagan needed establishmentarian George H. W. Bush;
  • Although both were Southerners (bless their hearts), state-level chief executive Bill Clinton needed the Washington, DC exprience of US Senator Al Gore.

As great as Bitcoin is, it can use a partner to shore up its weaknesses:

Why HIVE Needs BITCOIN As Its Running Mate

Hive can also benefit from partnering with Bitcoin:

  • As great as Hive is at being a development platform for both Layer 1 and Layer 2 dApps, it lacks the reach of Bitcoin.
  • Bitcoin has the name recognition. Children know about Bitcoin. Octogenarians know about Bitcoin. Even No-Coiners know about Bitcoin (which is why they are No-Coiners in the first place).

We know that Hive occupies a tight niche in cryptocurrency, but we also know that Bitcoin can't do it all alone.

Both Bitcoin and Hive are the champions of decentralized cryptocurrency, and both offer people an unprecedented level of freedom they don't ordinarily see when it comes to financial matters. They can provide the starting point for more rewarding lives on several levels.

Can we say that about the current crop of leaders in place today, or even a few years from now?

Why 2056? Why not 2044?

Bitcoin is a rambunctious teenager at 14, and Hive is a precocious pre-schooler at 3.

Even when Bitcoin becomes old enough to be elected POTUS at 35 in 2044, Hive would only be 24, old enough to attend graduate school.

Should anything happen to Bitcoin, Hive wouldn't qualify to take over.

So when Hive turns 35 in 2055, Bitcoin turns 46. So 2056 is their first qualifying opportunity.

Just My Two Sats

We've seen many candidates for public office over the years, and we know their track records. There have been a few gems here and there, but mostly it's been same old, same old.

If the world is moving to technology to the point where it rules over us, the least we can do is choose which technology we want as our leaders. It won't happen today, and it's not looking good for tomorrow, either.

So why not go for BITCOIN-HIVE 2056?

BITCOIN-HIVE 2056 makes 3 promises, but they are unlike any we've ever heard from any pair of running mates for high office:

  • DECENTRALIZED
  • PERMISSIONLESS
  • NOW

We've seen what both Bitcoin and Hive have done for banking and finance. We've seen what Hive can do for individuals.

Imagine what BITCOIN-HIVE can do for the way we govern ourselves.

We will always need some form of government or governance. What we can do without are political forms of government. BITCOIN-HIVE can make that a reality for us.

The twin pillars of "Be your own bank" and "not your keys, not your crypto" offer individuals an unprecedented degree of both freedom and responsibility. Bitcoin offers the security of a nearly universally accepted cryptocurrency, while Hive offers us the ability to start from dust and to acquire not just wealth but also the mindset needed to handle that wealth.

We've tried other forms of governance, and we know what happened with them.
We've tried current systems, and we found them lacking. We're overdue for a paradigm shift.

What do we have to lose?

BITCOIN-HIVE 2056!!

You're welcome. While this won't happen, it's not as far-teched as it seems. After all, every day we're giving up more and more of our decision-making and creative capacities to technological creations. If we keep doing this, things won't end well.
