Happy Bitcoin Day

Bitcoin started 14 years ago today. If you're reading this, understand that this blockchain we're using, and all of the others, are the result of Satoshi Nakamoto's work. Bitcoin kind of has two birthdays:

  1. October 31, 2008 when Satoshi released the whitepaper.
  2. January 3, 2009 which was the start of the blockchain, the one that all others spawned from in some way. January 3 is when Bitcoin and all blockchains went live.

It's really amazing to me how far things have matured in only 14 years. Although I suppose most people do not use cryptocurrencies daily, but many of us definitely use blockchain technologies daily. I suppose many use blockchain tech without even knowing, such as a "non-crypto" person who might read a Hive post on the internet. Like the world pre-internet, it's actually hard for me to now imagine a world today without blockchains or cryptocurrencies.

Satoshi seemed motivated because of the rampant government spending taking place at the time (like now). This is why his famous "The Times...Chancellor on brink..." comment was inserted into the "Genesis Block."

If you're a crypto fan or a blockchain user, you might wish to look at the source from which everything cryptocurrency came...look at Satoshi's own words.

You can read everything he wrote publicly at https://hive.blog/@crrdlx/satoshi

Or, there are lots of other versions/formats too at https://nefties.com/pages/kicking.html

Edit: fixed dead link.
